“I’d like to thank the Edgar County Farm Bureau for visiting the 11th District to learn about who we are, our priorities and our needs as a community,” said Porfirio (D-Lyons Township). “Visits like these are crucial to bridging connections between the farmers that support production and the food distributors in our district. Our economies and communities are closely intertwined and I look forward continuing this exceptional partnership.”

Porfirio welcomed the Edgar County Farm Bureau to his office in the 11th District, the Frito Lay Distribution Center in Summit and Ingredion in Bedford Park. Porfirio is Edgar County Farm Bureau’s adopted legislator through the Adopt-A-Legislator Program.

The Adopt-A-Legislator Program was developed by the Illinois Farm Bureau in 2001 to help develop relationships between state legislators in urban areas and farmers. The programs help legislators better understand the needs of agriculture from farmers and help farm bureau members understand the needs of urban districts.
