photo 1485322551133 3a4c27a9d925BURBANK — State Senator Mike Porfirio announced a total of $9,680 in library grants will be coming to public school districts in the 11th Senate District.

“We must expand the opportunities and resources that encourage learning in the classroom,” said Porfirio (D-Lyons Township). “Investing in our school libraries is essential to making reading accessible for our students.”

The Illinois Secretary of State’s School District Library Grant Program is providing a total of $1.3 million distributed across school districts in Illinois. The grants will help public school libraries supply books, e-books, technology, multilingual materials and periodicals for over 1 million K-12 students across the state.

Six schools in the 11th Senate District received grants:

  • Berwyn North School District 98 – $2,012
  • Burbank School District 111 – $2,698
  • La Grange South Elementary School District 105 – $990
  • Reavis High School District 220 – $1,681
  • Riverside Brookfield Township District 208 – $1,449
  • Summit School District 104 – $850
